• “Yogune-Nushi” era um diabólico dragão japonês, obcecado por carne humana e que uma vez ao ano exigia o sacrifício de uma donzela.
• “Rahu” e “Ketu” originaram-se na mitologia hindu e são importantes na astrologia Védica. Rahu é a “Cabeça do Dragão” e está associado com o nodo norte da lua. Ketu é o “Rabo do Dragão” e está associado com o nodo sul da lua.
• “Fafnir” é um dragão da mitologia nórdica que iniciou a vida como um gigante. Quando jovem, ele matou o pai para roubar seus tesouros. Utilizando-se de poderes mágicos, Fafnir transformou-se em um dragão para proteger melhor seus tesouros roubados.
• A Flauta Mágica (H. R. Pufnstuf), um seriado infantil da década de 70, apresentava o dragão falante Pufnstuf e prefeito da “Ilha Viva”, onde o adolescente Jimmy e sua flauta falante Freddie foram parar após serem perseguidos pela bruxa malvada Witchiepoo.
• Meu Amigo o Dragão (Pete’s Dragon, 1977), que combina personagens reais com uma figura animada, ainda continua atraindo as crianças.
• “Puff the Magic Dragon” é uma famosa canção da década de 60 de autoria do trio Peter, Paul & Mary, baseada em uma poesia sobre a perda da inocência da infância.
• O aclamado filme Coração de Dragão (Dragonheart ), lançado em 1996 pela Universal Pictures, conta a história medieval do último dragão na terra.

• “Norbert” é o dragão bebê de Hagrid nos contos de Harry Potter. Harry precisa vencer mentalmente o dragão durante o desafio inicial do Torneio Tribruxo no filme Harry Potter e o Cálice de Fogo (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)
• “Charizard” é um dragão voador que solta fogo no videogame e jogo de cartas da série Pokemon. O nome japonês para Charizard é “Rizaadon” (“Lizardon”).
• “Blue-Eyes White Dragon” é uma das primeiras cartas do jogo YuGIOh (Yu-Gi-Oh), que aparece também no primeiro episódio da série para televisão, O Coração das Cartas (The Heart of the Cards).
